"At all times on ships, especially on those of the Indian company, we embarked two or three buzzers of biniou and bombarde to restore morale and courage to the crews made up largely of Breton (Claude Charbonneau)".
True ambassador of traditional Breton music, the bagad of Lann-Bihoué contributes to the influence of the national navy, not only in France but also abroad. Its bell ringers, recruited each year by hearing from the best bagadous, have succeeded each other since 1952 to proudly wear the colors of the national navy.
Japan, Australia, Canada, United States, India, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, New Caledonia, Tahiti, West Indies, Italy, Great Britain, Principality of Monaco, and of course all the countries of the Celtic planet… The sounds of the most marine of all Breton bagads resound everywhere. In a few months, the Bagad will travel to Ghana and Singapore.
Since 2001 and the end of military service, open to coeducation, the bagad is made up of professional musicians who join the French Navy for a one-year contract renewable four times.
The Bagad of Lann-Bihoué will celebrate its sixtieth fifth anniversary in 2017. Since 2010, the brand "Product in Brittany" has elevated it to the title of cultural ambassador of Brittany and the Marine Academy has rewarded it for the all of his work.
